In the newest edition of Warhammer 40k, Black Templars have been given a new codex. In this guide I’ll be going through some tactics and overview of the changes to the army that you can use in your games today!
The “black templars codex 9th edition” is a codex that includes rules for the Black Templars Space Marine Chapter in Warhammer 40k. The book also contains information on how to play the game, including tactics and strategies.
In the Black Templars Warhammer 40k 9th Edition Codex army, Primarch Rogal Dorn and the Imperial Fists’ gene-seeds live on. The Black Templars have been on an everlasting crusade since the Horus Heresy era–the Imperium of Man’s longest campaign, spanning over 10 centuries.
What sets the Black Templars apart from other Adeptus Astartes (Space Marines) troops in Warhammer 40k 9th Edition Codex? They consider the Emperor to be a deity. This brings them closer to the mortals of the Imperial Cult.
The Black Templars, dubbed “dour champions,” do not follow the Imperial Fists’ regulations. They do, however, have their own set of rules, as well as distinct strengths and tactical benefits. With no homeworld, Black Templars build chapter keeps on other planets to boost recruiting, mobilize ships and Chapters, and preserve strongholds, as per Sigimund’s orders.

Enjoy bespoke litanies: The chaplains of the Black Templars have some really excellent litanies.
If you need a fast-moving army, the Black Templars are the way to go. They move rapidly to attack the opponent in close battle.
Black Templars like melee combat because they can unleash a close-range attack on their opponents once they are in close range.
Love yelling a rousing war cry, such as “For the Emperor’s glory!” The Black Templars’ history is marked by their unwavering devotion to the Emperor and his cause.
I like the appearance of a royal army and want to use blacks and metallics to create it.
Do you want to play an army that can withstand Psykers?
Some troops, for example, will link their weapons to the gauntlets and battle to the death.
The idea of crusading throughout the galaxy for the Emperor fascinates you.
I’d want to play an army that is zealously dedicated to the Emperor and will go to any length to win.
Prefer the lore of bringing purity and light to unclean and gloomy places.
Everything grimdark, particularly grimdark warrior-knights, appeals to me.
The following is the credo of the Black Templars:
“How is it going in your life?”
My life is my honor.
What will happen to you?
My destiny is determined by my responsibility.
What are you afraid of?
My greatest fear is failing.
What do you get as a reward?
My prize is my salvation.
What is your vocation?
Death is my trade.
What is your commitment?
“I swear to serve you for the rest of your life.”

Battle Tactics of the Black Templars
Dedicated Push
What it looks like: The Black Templars charge forward with a ferocious battle cry, eager to engage in fight in the quest of victory.
How it works is as follows: Use this stratagem on a Black Templars character or a Black Templars core unit in your army. This must be done at the start of the Fight phase. Select one of the following options:
If your chosen unit is not inside the Engagement Range of an opponent unit, you may move it normally for 3 inches or less. Either the closest objective marker or the nearest enemy unit must be reached at the conclusion of your move.
You may perform a pile-in maneuver with your chosen unit if it is inside the Engagement Range of any hostile units.

Riposte Violent
What it looks like: Using an eye-for-an-eye strategy, the Black Templars pursue their heavenly Emperor’s foes with equal ferocity, even if they are outmanned.
How it works: In your army, choose a single Black Templars Core unit. At the start of the Fight phase, use this Stratagem. Roll a single D6 until the conclusion of the Fight phase if a model does not explode after being destroyed in a melee strike. Once the opposing combatant model’s assault is complete, if you obtain 5 or more, the enemy combatant model gets 1 deadly wound. Due to the deployment of this Stratagem, each unit can only take 6 lethal wounds every phase.
Price: 1 CP
Wrath of the Crusader
What it looks like: The Black Templars Army harnesses and directs a vast amount of collective fury into their violent blows, cleaving hostile creatures in half.
When the Assault doctrine is active for your Black Templars during your Command phase, use this stratagem. Add +1 to your Armour Penetration characteristic whenever a Black Templars model in your army strikes with a Melee or Pistol weapon; this only applies to unmodified 6 wound rolls. This Stratagem remains in effect until the start of your next Command phase. Despite the fact that you may only employ this Stratagem once, it stacks with your Assault Doctrine benefit.
Price: 2 CP
Epic Deed Stratagem of the Black Templars
Delivered with a Bang
What it looks like: The Black Templars are inspired to perform their best in battle by the Chaplains’ courageous words, which reverberate throughout the conflict.
In your Command phase, choose a Black Templars Chaplain to perform a litany. Without rolling, one litany spoken by your selected Black Templars Chaplain inspires the unit, and the unit receives an additional litany during this Command phase.
Price: 2 CP
Requisition Schemes of the Black Templars
Reputable Repositories
What it looks like: The Black Templars’ crusade ships’ stores are brimming with holy relics and sanctified weaponry.
How it works is as follows: When you assemble your troops before a fight, use this stratagem. Select a Black Templars model that has the words “Sword Brother” or “Sergeant” in its profile. Even though they are not a character, this selected “Sergeant” or “Sword Brother” Black Templars model may have one of the following Eternal Crusade Relics:
Sword of Retribution
Cacodominus Cacodominus Cacodominus Cacodominus Cacodominus Caco
Bolts of the Witchseeker
Weapon crafted by a master
Weapons of the Digital Age
Limitations of this Black Templars Stratagem: You cannot offer more than one Relic to a single Black Templar with this Stratagem. Every Relic in your army must be one-of-a-kind. This Stratagem may only be used once.
Price: 1 CP
Sigismund’s heir
What it looks like: Every Black Templar considers Sigismund the ideal strategist to be a hero. Every Black Templar army aspires to follow in his footsteps, winning renown and leaving a legacy.
How it works is as follows: Prior to deploying this Stratagem, choose a non-named Black Templars character to be a Warlord. Use a Warlord Trait from the Black Templars Warlord Traits table as an additional Warlord Trait. Remember that each Warlord Trait in your army must be unique, therefore re-roll if the Warlord Trait is generated randomly. This Stratagem may only be used once.
Price: 1 CP
The Feast Champion
What it looks like: Black Templar soldiers train for endurance, strength, and courage in order to surpass the achievements of earlier Imperial Fist successors.
How it works: Choose a single Black Templars model with the words “Sword Brother” or “Sergeant” in their profile before starting your combat. Give the model a +1 to their Attacks and Wounds characteristics. Give the Weapon Skill characteristic of the Black Templars model a +1. This Stratagem may only be used once.

Codex Strategic Ploy Stratagems of the Black Templars
Hekkoto’s Warhammer 40k Black Templar
Despise the Witch
What it looks like: The Black Templars’ loathing for magic is palpable. They are less susceptible to psychic assaults because they are so invested in their hate.
This Stratagem may be used during your opponent’s Psychic phase after they pass a Psychic test for a Psyker unit, as well as after any Deny the Witch attempts. Roll a D6 if any Black Templars troops are within 24 inches of the opponent Psyker. The psychic power is nullified if you obtain a 4 or above.

40k Wargear Stratagems for the Black Templars
Pyre of the Heretic
What it looks like: Brave crusaders defeat their foes; they are worthy to wield holy flame weapons in order to let the adversary experience the purifying of fire.
This stratagem is designed to be used during the Shooting phase. The Stratagem is activated at the start of your Shooting phase and remains active until the conclusion. With a single Black Templars Core unit in your army, use this stratagem. When it’s on:
Instead of rolling dice to determine the number of attacks performed when a flame weapon from the chosen unit targets a unit with 11 or more models, make the maximum number of available attacks.
When a flame weapon from your Black Templars Core unit strikes a unit with 6-10 models, it makes at least three attacks.
If your chosen unit is not a Mk X Gravis unit, it will cost you 1 CP; if it is a Mk X Gravis unit, it will cost you 2 CP.
Incendiary Shells are a kind of explosive shell that is used to set fire
What it seems to be: neophytes toil to transport shells into combat. With their explosive cores, these shells ignite opponents, kindling the Emperor’s fury on their intended target.
How it works: You may deploy this stratagem during your Shooting Phase. Select a Black Templars unit that can fire. Assign a Damage characteristic of 2 to each model in your chosen Black Templars unit that strikes with an Astartes shotgun. This stratagem lasts until the Shooting phase is completed.
